Fergal O’Connor founded Buymedia in 2015. Fergal had over 20 years’ experience in advertising/media across print, radio, outdoor, TV, digital and social before founding Buymedia. The idea behind Buymedia came when he saw that many small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) face difficulties in planning, buying, managing and monitoring advertising, especially across both traditional and digital channels. He set the company up to address those “pain points.” Under his leadership, Buymedia has grown significantly achieving the accolade of the 4th Fastest Growing company in Ireland in 2024 - Deloitte's Fast 50 and 73rd in EMEA Deloitte's Fast 500. He emphasises the use of technology (AI, predictive analytics, automation) to enable better returns on investment in advertising, especially for businesses and organisations that lack proper data, innovation, resources and insights.
Fergal also led the launch of “Advertise for Good”, a CSR initiative through Buymedia that commits a portion of advertising spend (and invites partners / media advertisers) to contribute ad space / revenue towards charities (e.g. UNICEF, and Laura Lynn Children's Hospice).
